Jeff Black - Investment Advisor
Jeff is from Cortez, a small, closeknit town in southwest Colorado. He
is presently pursing his CFA designation, and is an Assistant Professor at
the University of Memphis. He teaches Investments, Financial Risk Management, and Global Financial Management. He received his bachelor’s
degree in business administration from Colorado State University in
2010 with a concentration in finance and a minor in applied statistics.
Returning to Colorado State, he completed his master’s degree in
financial risk management in 2012. After founding Black Capital in 2012,
Jeff earned his PhD in Finance at the University of Oklahoma.
Jeff worked as a financial
consultant to US Oil & Gas during his undergraduate work, primarily
concerning the feasibility of green operations. He is also a financial modeling consulted with First Financial Network in Oklahoma.
While in his master’s program, he coauthored a paper
concerning inefficiency in futures markets which was published
in the Journal of Trading. More recently, his research on the pricing of different liquidity dimensions was published in the Journal of Banking & Finance. His present research interests
include market microstructure, liquidity, market efficiency, and social network analysis. Jeff
enjoys an array of hobbies, ranging from hunting and skydiving to
watching football and baseball.
